Meet the Team
Our team formed at school, brought together by friendship, curiosity, and a shared drive to solve real-world problems. We noticed a challenge happening all around us: safe food being discarded because people weren’t sure if it was still fresh. This inspired us to create FreshCheck – a solution that gives food a “voice” and empowers people to make smarter, safer choices.
Our mission is simple: reduce food waste, improve nutrition security, and protect public health through accessible, low-cost technology. Our vision is a world where no food is wasted unnecessarily, every meal is safe, and communities are empowered with the knowledge to act responsibly.

Team & Product Development Lead
Adirath Trehan
Adirath brings valuable hands-on entrepreneurship experience from building a natural ketchup business, where he gained deep insights into product development and market needs. At FreshCheck, he leads the team, product design, prototyping, and food-grade formulation, carefully ensuring that the sensor is not only safe and effective but also practical and ready for real-world use. His experience in developing consumer food products allows him to anticipate challenges in production and usability, helping FreshCheck reach its full potential in the marketplace.
Finance & Costing Lead
Ishan Gupta
Ishan leads FreshCheck’s financial strategy, overseeing budgeting, cost modeling, and long-term scalability planning. A decorated competitive debater and multiple-time Best Delegate award winner, he brings sharp analytical thinking and high-stakes decision making to the team. Ishan ensures that innovation is supported by sound economics, carefully managing resources and projecting costs to balance sustainability, growth, and feasibility as FreshCheck moves from concept to real-world impact.
Market & Strategy Lead
Jai Shamshere Rana
Jai leads market research, business strategy, and project coordination for FreshCheck. He bridges the gap between innovation and community needs, ensuring that the product is relevant, accessible, and impactful. By analyzing market trends, identifying opportunities, and coordinating team efforts, Jai helps FreshCheck reach households, retailers, and food organizations efficiently. His work ensures that the sensor not only functions effectively but also delivers real-world value to the people and communities it serves.
